Traditional way "Starch plus water"
A tablespoon of starch( without top, that is, 15-20 grams per liter of water) is dissolved first in a small amount of cold water and, stirring, gradually add the water just boiled. Be careful and do not burn yourself. As a result of your actions, a homogeneous, fairly clear solution resembling a paste must be obtained. If there are lumps in it and further mixing does not help them to get rid of, the composition must be filtered through cheesecloth or a frequent sieve.
After this, you can immerse the clean wipes in the starch solution and leave it for about fifteen minutes. All! We take out napkins from the font, gently squeeze and hang. Do not twist it at all! You can start to iron the napkins when they are a little wet. This will enhance the effectiveness of the procedure. Just remember that the iron should not be too hot. And you need to iron through gauze or a thin towel.
How to starch a knitted napkin
If the usual tissue wipes are starched so that they keep the desired shape better, then in the case of knitted napkins without this procedure simply can not do. Openwork products without starching and do not look very much, but can not keep the shape at all. A solution for knitted napkins, as usual, is prepared from starch, but skimmed milk is used instead of water. Boil the milk is not necessary, the starch will dissolve well and in the cold. Further, as usual: soak, lightly squeeze and dry.
For drying, knitted wipes are better placed on the paper horizontally, so they will retain their original shape. It is advised to even fix the main parts of the picture with pins. After drying, the napkins are dried with a warm iron. We start ironing from the middle, gradually moving to the edges. These methods will help you if there was no starch at hand, and there's no time to go to the store. In the first case, instead of starch, a well-known PVA glue is used. Two-three parts of water are taken on one part of the glue. If the glue is initially very thick, you need to add more water. Then the process proceeds according to a well-established methodology. After the final ironing, it is advisable to wipe the iron with a damp cloth.
The name of the second method speaks for itself. The gelatin solution is prepared according to the instructions on the package, as if we are going to prepare a jellied. It is necessary not to hurry, in the initial stage pour a little water into the gelatin and make sure that it is sufficiently swollen. After that, add the rest of the water and heat the composition to completely dissolve the gelatin. All other actions are performed according to the usual scheme.
